Tippy's Eye Surgery

Surgery Update
From Tippy's Mom:

September 9, 2011:
Tippy saw Dr Gibbons today. She said his eye is "perfect"! Everything is as it should be. We can begin trying to take the collar off as long as we watch him carefully to make sure he doesn't scratch it. He has an appointment in 3 weeks and may have to have a little follow up procedure to remove some excess skin. He's down to one med now, too. Thank you all for your concern.

Tippy the Cat, Needs Eye Surgery
Tip is a 12 year old grey and white neutered male cat. He is named for the white tip on his tail.

Tip is a large cat and has been in foster care for most of his life, even though he has been up for adoption the whole time.

Tippy has a wrinkled ear from previously untreated ear mites
that caused him no problems since the ear mites were cleared up.

Now he has a problem that is very serious. He developed eyelid
entropion. This is a condition that causes the lower eyelid to rotate inward and his eyelashes to fold inward. His eyes looked sunken in his head.

His foster parents had surgery done to correct this. During this
surgery, the doctor discovered that he had a large, shallow ulcer on his cornea. This was treated with medications for over a month and has not healed.

The veterinary opthamologist says he now must have a keratectomy and conjunctival pedicle flap. This will involve sewing part of his eyelid to the cornea so the ulcer can heal. If this is not done, the ulcer will get deeper and his eye will rupture.

The surgery will cost $1,000. Forgotten Felines does not have funds to cover this large amount. Can you help save Tippy's eye?
